June Garden Microwedding
There’s an old movie, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, that has a song “June Bride”. The whole movie is a time capsule of bygone attitudes towards women however, this song has always stuck with me. In my sixth year in this garden, where plants are really coming into their own, I get it. June is a uniquely beautiful time. Other Summer months can really be one in the same in terms of flowers. But June has her own specialties. I’m still pinching myself that Megan (photographer) captured my new dawn roses at the height of their glory.
Katie and Matt live locally and took me up on the offer of the garden as a backdrop for pictures before their wedding at the lake’s edge. Katie opted for a lush flower crown instead of a bouquet, and I’m so glad she did. David Austin Roses, Astible, Alliums, and Penstemon made it distinctly June. Thanks so much, Katie and Matt for being great sports! Chickens included.
